Graphic Design
My graphic design education began my sophomore year of high school when I took a Digital Art class. There I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. Also during my free time I would play around with Photoshop creating edits and gifs for tumblr. As college approached my love of design led me to become a Media Arts and Design major with a concentration in Converged Media. Through college courses I gained proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite. Also during the summer of 2014, my experience as a Digital Intern at America's Promise Alliance allowed me to gain skill in designing graphics for an organization's social media presence. I am excited to continue to grow more as a graphic designer after I graduate college and continue on in my professional career.
Web Design
I took an Introduction to Web Development class during my junior year of high school and while I found the class extremely frustrating, I also found it very rewarding when I got my code to work. My experience with HTML and CSS in high school was a factor that went into my decision to become a Media Arts and Design major. Through my college major I've worked with HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap. I've also used Drupal through a summer internship, extensive use of Wordpress in college courses (including use of child themes), and Weebly. I feel that my use of web development is just beginning and as the prevalence of the Internet grows and develops, I can't wait to learn more about web design.
Video
I began my education with video during my sophomore year of college when I took a Fundamental Skills in Media Arts and Design with a video concentration. I learned the basics of video shooting, lighting, audio, editing as well as experience working in a studio work with the cameras, as talent, audio, and director. I've used iMovie and Final Cut Pro to edit videos and have created instructional videos for various classes for my minor (Educational Media).
Writing
Writing has not always been my strong suit yet it is an activity I enjoy doing. I gained a structured foundation of writing through two AP writing classes in High School (AP Language and Composition and AP Literature). In college I gained experience writing for new media platforms such as web sites, social media and apps for clients. Through my internship with the National Air and Space Museum I learned the importance of phrasing content for digital media and how to convey short messages on social media sites such as twitter.
